I’ve been fairly silent recently but I wanted to let you all know that I’m still here! The last two weeks have been such a rollercoaster. The first week of school stacked on top of hurricane Harvey has had my entire life turned topsy turvy. As I’m sure many of you know, hurricane Harvey has done significant damage to Texas which has thrown my entire state into chaos.
Today I’ll be taking a short break from our Cursing 101 series to bring you a spell for the victims of natural disasters. This spell is designed to both protect victims from further harm and bring the return of happiness and stability to their lives. We would all deeply appreciate it if you’d lend your energy to our relief efforts as we work to reclaim our homes and our lives!
While Hurricane Harvey was the reason this spell was born it can be used to help with any major disaster. Feel free to use it to help those who are suffering in Venezuela, those who are in danger from fires on the West Coast and anyone else that you feel might benefit from getting a little extra support.
A Spell For Natural Disaster Victims
You Will Need:
- Sage Leaves
- Orange Peel
- Cinnamon sticks
- Water in a jar or bowl (rainwater is particularly good for storm victims)
- A pot and a stove
Hold your container of water between your hands and take a moment to channel your love and protection for the victims into the water, you can identify the victims aloud if you like or simply trust that your magic will find those in greatest need. When you’ve finished imbuing the water with your magic, pour it into the pot and set the stove to simmer (do not let it boil). Now you’re going to add the herbs, as you do so say,
“I call on sage to protect and guard. Orange for the return of happier days. And cinnamon so that luck might find those in need.”
Allow the mixture to simmer gently for 10-15 minutes (you can let it simmer longer but be sure to use more water so that it doesn’t dry out). While it’s simmering you can chant, meditate or write about your wishes for the victims of the natural disaster. If you write down your wishes be sure to save them.
After you’ve finished simmering the herbs, turn off the stove and allow the brew to cool completely. Take the liquid and the herbs to a place of significance to you (an outdoor space, preferably somewhere that you feel especially connected to your witchcraft). Hold the container with the brew and empower it once more with your wishes for the victims. Take a deep breath and as you exhale pour the brew out onto the ground, allow the power you’ve built to leave through your breath, through your hands and through your herbal brew into the earth and air to be carried to those who need it most.
If you wrote your wishes for the victims down, roll them tightly into a scroll, tie it closed with a length of twine and hang it outside your home.

Doing this now.. also added salt.
I feel like maybe for those of us who evacuated( or locked down) for the storm, using some of the water supply that we took with us or brought back might be a good choice. That is if we no longer require it as our primary drinking water. That is just my intuition talking though.
