We all love witchcraft here but have you ever felt like it just wasn’t quite enough to meet your spiritual needs? Maybe you’ve reached a point where doing spells and divination just doesn’t seem to give you what it is that you’re looking for out of your spiritual practice. If you’ve ever felt like this, you’re not alone!
The truth is, witchcraft is only a complete spiritual practice in the early stages of your spiritual development. It’s completely natural and normal for it to begin to feel like it’s missing something as you progress and grow. This is a very good thing because it means that you are progressing and developing into higher states of spiritual awareness. Today we’re going to talk about exactly why this happens, why it’s a good thing, and how you can begin to add to your practice to give you the sense of completeness and connection that you are searching for.
Witchcraft Is Only The Beginning
As a spiritual teacher, I have given a lot of thought to the stages of development that people go through in their spiritual journey. While every spiritual journey is unique, most people move through a predictable series of developmental stages as they grow and expand into higher levels of consciousness. These are, of course, very broad categories but they do give us a kind of roadmap that we can use to troubleshoot our journey. When we look at witchcraft through this lens of spiritual developmental stages, we find that witchcraft falls into the very first stage of spiritual development. This first stage of spiritual development is all about awakening to your own power. It’s the realization that you have a choice. The realization that you can change your life, that you do have power.
This is always the first level of spiritual expansion. It’s the recognition that we are creators of our own experience. Witchcraft accomplishes this beautifully. By giving us a set of tools and metaphysical theories by which to take control of our lives and change the circumstances that we live with, it creates a cascade of subtle but incredibly powerful changes in the subconscious mind. Now, instead of feeling powerless when you’re struggling to find a job, you can cast a job spell and manipulate the energies of the universe that you live in to suit your purposes. Instead of feeling like you’re never going to find love, you can use love spells to attract the right people who can love you for who you are. And this is a wonderful thing! There is no skipping past this phase of learning to recognize and utilize your own creative power in this universe.
The problem is that at a certain point, almost everyone begins to feel that their spiritual life is lacking. Your witchcraft practice goes from feeling like something empowering that fulfills your spiritual needs and makes you feel connected and in the driver’s seat of your life to somehow feeling like something is missing. You begin to wonder if something is wrong with you! You start to feel like maybe you’re not doing enough spells or you haven’t spent enough time meditating or maybe you just need to find some new witchcraft technique to add to your practice. The problem is that all of these things are temporary solutions. You’re not feeling like your witchcraft practice is lacking because you’re lazy or you need to spice it up with some fancy new technique. You feel like your witchcraft practice is lacking because it is no longer meeting your needs. In other words, you feel like your practice is lacking because it is! This can be extremely disheartening. We spent so much time building these practices and learning and creating this beautiful spiritual life for ourselves, only to find that suddenly it doesn’t fit us in more. What gives?
When you reach this point in the craft, it doesn’t matter how many spells you learn, whether you learn a new form of divination, or whether you start talking to your ancestors or spirits, none of that is going to give you the sense of spiritual fulfillment that you need. This is because you’ve gotten stuck in spirituality 101 territory.
What Is Spirituality 101?
Spirituality 101 is essentially the first phase of real spiritual awakening. Each phase of spiritual growth has a hallmark lesson that you are learning. The key lesson of spirituality 101 is, “I have the power to create the life that I want” or put another way, “I have the power of choice and my choices create tangible change in my life.” This is a marked difference from the state of being that often comes before this first spiritual phase. Many of us come to witchcraft from the major world religions, almost all of which have a core tenet of powerlessness. In Christianity, everything is about god’s will and allowing your spiritual leaders to tell you what’s right and wrong and what you can and can’t do. In Hinduism, you have the caste system that places you in a predestined role in society and even if that system is no longer upheld by governments, many aspects of it still impact day-to-day life socially. You can see this theme playing out over and over again throughout world religions. The overall powerlessness and lack of control and reliance on external sources for our spiritual growth are endemic in our world.
Spirituality 101 is kind of the antidote to this pervasive mindset of powerlessness and victimhood. Witchcraft is not the only way of learning and growing through this phase! Many spiritual systems recognize this need for personal choice and power. Concepts like the law of attraction or the law of mirroring, witchcraft, co-creating with god or source, and many other mindset shifts are happening as we outgrow these old systems. You have been going through this process of learning and growing into your power and personal choice as you have explored witchcraft and magic in your own life. The problem is that this phase of spiritual development comes with a catch-22.
What Comes Next?
The problem with spirituality 101 is that over the long haul, it doesn’t actually make you that much happier! This is when we start to edge into the next phase of spiritual development. We start to realize, consciously or subconsciously, that no matter how much choice we have, no matter how much power we think we have, and no matter how many times we get what we want, we are still not significantly happier in our day-to-day lives. This is what you’re feeling when you begin to recognize that your witchcraft practice just isn’t doing it for you anymore. You have done the spells, you’ve done the divination, you use these things on a regular basis and they do add value to your life, but you begin to notice that they’re not fully giving you what you need to be truly happy. Again, this can be happening on a subconscious level. You might just have a slight sense that something is off rather than having this realization super consciously. It might just feel like a sense of disenchantment or apathy toward your spiritual practice. What really happened is that you’ve begun to recognize that your witchcraft practice is not enough to give you the transformation to your overall life and happiness that you are seeking.
Now, I don’t want you to think that I’m some dishonest harlot for teaching you all witchcraft when it’s not actually going to meet your needs. The reality is that you must have this realization organically before progressing into the next phase of spiritual development. You can’t just jump straight to the next phase of development without really learning that you have the power to change your life firsthand. I teach witchcraft because it is an incredible way to teach the lessons of spirituality 101, fully knowing that all of you will reach a point where this no longer serves your needs and you need something more. As a teacher, I think this is a wonderful thing. Outgrowing the level of learning that you’ve been at is fantastic! You should be progressing, you should be outgrowing some parts of your spiritual practice, and you should be changing and evolving as you learn. That’s my whole goal as a spiritual teacher!
That said, the fact remains that you’re still stuck in your spiritual practice, so what are you supposed to do next? When you begin to have this feeling that your spiritual practice in your witchcraft is not enough and that you need something more, it’s time for you to begin focusing on spirituality 2.0.
What Is Spirituality 2.0?
Remember how I told you that each developmental phase in your spiritual journey has a major lesson? Well, the lesson of spirituality 2.0 is, “getting what I want in the external world does not make me happier. Perhaps the change has to happen internally for me to find happiness.” The thing is, many of you have already begun to expand your practice into this new level of development. This is how we end up in the realm of shadow work. This realization is essentially what brings us to the point that we begin looking inward at our thoughts, beliefs, and traumas and how they might be affecting our energy and our day-to-day lives and behavior.
Spirituality 2.0 is when we begin to recognize the power of the subconscious mind and start working with it directly to influence our happiness and the circumstances in our external life. You begin to find that all the money spells in the world won’t make you rich if your beliefs about money are keeping you in a scarcity mindset. This is when you begin to notice that your patterns of behavior in your relationships are what’s stopping you from having the love and friendship that you really want as a result of the beliefs that you’ve picked up throughout your life unconsciously. This is when you realize that until you learn to accept, respect, and love yourself, you will always be unhappy because you’ve got someone being mean to you 24/7!
Incorporating this new phase of development into your spiritual practice can seem daunting at first. This is okay! It’s normal to feel overwhelmed when you expand from a spiritual level that is comfortable into a new spiritual level that pushes the envelope of your growth. It’s okay to feel like you don’t know what you’re doing and you don’t know where to go. Up until this point, I’ve spoken mostly about spirituality 101 topics in the realm of witchcraft, and while I’ve thoroughly enjoyed taking this journey with you all, I’m ready to expand into more. From this point forward, I’m going to be teaching about both witchcraft and the spirituality 2.0 topics that you need to really grow and progress in your spiritual life. If you’ve been reading this blog post and feeling like you’re ready to step into this realm but you don’t know what to do or how to proceed, I’ve got you.
In the same way that I’ve made learning witchcraft easy, I’m going to make stepping into this next level of power and spiritual growth as simple and straightforward for you as I can. We’re going to start talking about subjects such as shadow work, trauma healing, how the physical body impacts your spiritual life, deeper forms of energy work, the energetics of relationships, and so much more. If you’re ready to begin your spirituality 2.0 journey and begin to expand on your witchcraft practice, I am here for that!
It’s Ok To Have A Foot In Both Worlds
Before we wrap this up, I want to take a moment to reassure you that if you find yourself progressing into the lessons of spirituality 2.0, that doesn’t mean that you have to leave your witchcraft behind. This is not an either or situation. Instead, we take an “and” mentality to our spiritual growth. You can have your witchcraft and progress into spirituality 2.0 and, in fact, approaching your spirituality in this way will serve you far better than trying to dump anything from your previous spiritual practice. For this reason, I’m going to keep talking about spirituality 101 topics right alongside spirituality 2.0 topics. In the same way that we don’t abandon addition and subtraction when we start learning about multiplication and division, we still need the lessons, techniques, and magical technologies that we have learned in this first phase of our spiritual expansion. I’m not giving you something to replace your witchcraft. Rather, I’m giving you the missing piece that will make your witchcraft start to feel whole and fulfilling again.
It’s also totally normal to be learning a bit of both lessons at once. There are times when I have to go back to basics and relearn that I am one powerful witch and I create my own reality. We don’t suddenly fully understand the lessons of spirituality 101 when we start progressing into spirituality 2.0. There is a flow to our learning process. There’s nothing wrong with returning to the lessons of power and choice when you need it. Your spiritual journey is still 100% unique to you and while these broad stroke categories can give us an idea of where to look next, it’s still up to you to guide your practice intuitively.
I hope you guys are as excited as I am about this new phase in our spiritual journeys and on this platform where all of you join me to learn and grow. I can’t wait to start diving deeper into spirituality 2.0 with you, so stay tuned and you’ll be hearing from me next week!

I’m in a really bad place in my life. I have been for a long time. I have yet to cast a spell, and I don’t believe I will. My mind is far from settled, and being able to meditate has never been my forte. Manifestation seems impossible. I have these crystals that are supposed to help, but I don’t know how to get any use out of them. I feel like I’m dead. It is as if something has sucked all the hope and dreams right out of me.
If you can help with this, you are indeed a great witch!
If you have input and/or advice, I am open to it.
Thank you,
Amanda
