We, as humans, love beauty, plain and simple. We notice it. We celebrate it. We strive for it.
The interesting thing about beauty, though, is that it’s highly subjective. Strictly speaking, there’s no real standard on beauty. There’s no perfect body type, eye color, hair color or way of dress. Plus, it changes all the time depending on the trends.
The only constant when it comes to beauty is the ENERGY of beauty. Personally, I believe that feeling beautiful makes you beautiful.
The most universal form of beauty comes from a certain energy or vibration rather than the brand of makeup or the number of hours spent lifting weights. Though beauty is reflected in someone’s outward appearance, it starts on the inside. I’m not just being cheesy here. Studies like this one and this one have indicated that the more you know someone, the more physically attractive they become. Beauty is highly energetic.
So that’s really what we’re talking about today: how to cultivate the energy of beauty through spells and rituals.
A Beauty Spell Caveat
Let’s get this out of the way before we dive in. This is NOT a time for you to look over your appearance and pick apart all the things that you don’t like.
Because we witches tend to use magic to transform our lives, we sometimes fall into the trap of trying to magically change EVERY LITTLE THING about ourselves. Don’t do that. There are many things about you and your appearance that are special. Celebrate your uniqueness, don’t stress about changing it.
Rituals To Connect With Your Physical Body
Strengthening your connection to your body is the first step to calling more beauty into your life. Maybe you’re like me and you spend a lot of time sitting at a desk tap-tap-tapping away on a keyboard. If your daily life tends to be more focused around mental tasks rather than physical work, it’s easy to feel disconnected from your body.
Breathing Meditation
Sit or lie down in a comfortable position. Place one hand on your heart and one hand on your belly near your belly button. Breathe in and allow your torso to “inflate” one section at a time. Start with your belly. Then let your breath fill your chest, all the way up to your collarbones, so your whole torso feels full of air. Connect with all the physical sensations in your body as you do this. Hold your breath at the “top” of the inhale for a moment. Then exhale in one smooth breath. As you do this, focus on your intention to connect with your physical body.
Gratitude Walk
Take a walk and be hyper-focused on all the sensations you feel. Every time you feel a sensation, send out a thought of appreciation. For example: When you feel your weight transfer from one foot to the other, think something like, “I love my feet for bearing weight. I love the sensation of movement.” With every step, you’re basically telling the universe that you love your body, which is a wonderful energy to bring to your beauty spells.
Cleansing Shower or Bath Spell
You can weave this ritual right into your daily hygiene routine. When you’re washing in the shower or bath, take a moment to appreciate each part of your body. For example, think to yourself, “beautiful ankles”, “beautiful knees”, “beautiful stomach”, etc as you run your washcloth or bar of soap over each body part. Celebrate the inherent beauty of your human body because it IS beautiful.
Tarot or Oracle Cards Beauty Spell
What You Need:
- A tarot or oracle deck (optional)
- A printer
- Paper
- Colored pencils, markers, crayons or paints
Go through your tarot or oracle deck and pick out one to five of the most beautiful cards. Make photocopies of these cards or take printer paper and trace the outline of the cards. If you don’t own a tarot or oracle deck, feel free to look up the images of your favorite tarot cards on the internet and print them out. There are many different versions online that are fine to print for personal use.
Set the mood with music, incense, or candles to heighten your focus and strengthen your intention during this spell.
Visualize your intention and get as specific as feels comfortable. You’re going for beauty here. What does that look like to you? If it feels good for you, visualize yourself with specific features. Is there a certain hairstyle you’d like to try? A new way of dressing? A fitness goal you’re working towards? If you’re going for inner beauty, what traits are you working towards cultivating? Honesty? Vulnerability? Being a bad-ass? Visualize yourself as that person.
Color in and decorate the images of your cards with your art supplies. Be light and joyful as you do this. Don’t get hung up on making it look perfect. Let yourself sink into a sort of trance as you focus on your beauty intention.

Sunset or Sunrise Beauty Spell
For glowing skin, shiny hair or a radiant inner glow.
What You Need:
- A Glass Jar
- Water
Fill a glass jar with water and hold it in your hands as you watch the sun set or rise. Bask in the natural beauty as the sun paints the sky in reds, pinks, and oranges. Notice everything that’s beautiful about the scene. Notice the different layers of clouds, the trees or mountains along the horizon, and the way the light changes with every minute.
Absorb the beauty of the sun. Take it in with your eyes. Breathe it in through your mouth and nose. Listen to the sounds of the dawn or dusk. Meditate on the notion that you are part of nature, and you have a place on this earth. The beauty of the sunset or the sunrise is abundant and it’s there for you to use whenever you like. Allow the beauty of the sun to soak into your body and let it transform you.
While you are admiring the sunset or sunrise, hold the jar of water in your hands. Let the emerging or fading sunlight seep into your water. After the sun has fully risen or set, drink the water. It has been charged with the beauty of the sun’s energy, and you will take on its colorful radiant energy as you drink it.
Immerse Yourself In The Energy Of Beauty
You ever watch a movie and find yourself hugely attracted to an actor or actress? But then you see that same person in a different movie or doing an interview, and suddenly, you don’t think he or she is as beautiful as you originally thought.
It’s weird, isn’t it? How can someone appear so beautiful in one setting, and so average in another?
It’s because that person was embodying a specific energy that aligned with your idea of beauty.
This knowledge can be a powerful ingredient to your beauty spells. Think back through all the movies or books you’ve consumed. Which characters stand out to you as being beautiful? Now sit down and make a list of the traits they embodied.
Once you identify which traits you find beautiful in your favorite actor, actress or fictional character, ask your intuition for ideas on how to bring that energy into your life.
For me, I love kick-ass, adventurous women. I think Claire (played by Bryce Dallas Howard) in the Jurassic World movies is gorgeous. She has striking red hair, pretty blue eyes, and a fit body. But that’s true of a lot of Hollywood actresses. So going deeper, what is it specifically that I find beautiful about this character?
Attractive Trait: Claire’s Sense of Adventure
At first glance, Claire seems like a city slicker, but she clearly loves being in rugged, exotic lands given her job at an experimental dinosaur park on a remote island of the coast of Costa Rica.
How to Cultivate a Sense of Adventure:
Now, I’ll need to take a few minutes to brainstorm ways I can call in some “Claire” energy into my life. How can I be more adventurous? Maybe I take a new class in a subject that scares me a little. I could learn a new language. I might want to a trip to somewhere off the grid or sign up for skydiving.
Attractive Trait: Claire’s Courage
When the dinosaurs get out, Claire rises to the occasion every time, saving her own life and the lives of others throughout the movie.
How to Cultivate Courage:
I can ask myself, how can I be more courageous? Am I going after my dreams with courage, or am I playing small because I’m scared of failing? Where I can I “rise to the occasion” in my own life? What is one way I can be brave today? What can I conquer today? What fear can I face head on?
Attractive Trait: Claire is Unapologetically Herself
Even when other characters in the movie poke fun at Claire’s ultra-polished, city-slicker appearance, she owns it. She’s confident in herself. It’s who she is, and she’s ok with being different. That’s a beautiful energy I’d like to bring into my life.
How to Cultivate a Strong Sense of Self:
I can ask myself, am I truly being myself right now? Is there any part of me that I try to hide? What do I love about myself? Do I ever worry about being rejected by others? What’s totally unique about me? What weird thing can I celebrate about myself?
Pick four ways you can immerse yourself in the energy of this person (real or fictional). Dedicate the next four weeks to bringing that energy into your life. Focus on one way for an entire week. Journal about your experiences and note any changes you feel.
Banish Beauty Fears Spell
A common reason spells don’t always work is because the witch performing the spell is still holding onto conflicting beliefs that are sabotaging or diluting the magic. Get rid of unconscious beliefs with this banishing spell.
What You Need:
- A black birthday candle (or whatever color you have on hand)
- A fireproof container
- Paper
- A writing utensil
Write down all your unconscious fears about becoming more “beautiful” or changing your appearance.
Possible Fears Around Personal Beauty
- You might get unwanted attention
- You don’t want to spend money on new clothes or a new hairstyle
- You don’t deserve to be beautiful
- You don’t believe it’s possible
- Your friends and family might view you differently
As you go through these fears, note which ones are real and which ones are worries you took on at some point without any real-life evidence. For the fears that are real, journal about what you will do to resolve each issue.
Once you’ve gone through all your fears, hold a black birthday candle in your hands and visualize all of those fears traveling out of your brain, down your shoulders and arms, through your fingers to the candle.
Get a fireproof container of some kind. A cauldron works great for this! Melt the bottom of the candle so a couple drops of wax fall onto the surface. Stick the bottom of the candle into the melted wax so it adheres to the fireproof surface. Light the candle and burn the paper you used to write all your fears on. Let the ashes fall into the fireproof container and watch as the black candle slowly burns down. This takes about ten minutes. Allow your fears that were holding you back from your desired beauty melt away with the candle wax. Once the candle burns out, the spell is complete. Be safe when you’re working with fire. Don’t do this spell near anything flammable and don’t leave your candle unattended.
